The most remarkable feature of the hotel is a tower which is known as Badal Vilas and and stretches 50 meters into the sky. This landmark can be seen from almost anywhere around town. The hotel is quite large although it has only a few rooms. The fort gate is about 15 minutes walk down the street and there are a couple of good restaurants down the street. The expansive roof is strikingly large and makes a great spot to enjoy the local views. This is an excellent location from which to explore the Jaisalmer Fort, the Jain Temple, the Tazia Tower, Manak Chowk and the Patwon Ka Haveli. Given its architectural style and opulence the room interiors seem a bit simple and unadorned. Staying here one will always remember a sunset viewed from the rooftop restaurant or sitting enjoying a cold ale at the rooftop bar. In-house restaurants serve Indian, Rajasthani, Chinese, and western cuisines. There is so much to do in town and around the hotel that a fitness center or spa is not missed. It is located up on Trikuta hill, not far from the Jaisalmer fort. Photographers love this place for obvious reasons. The first stone of the fort was placed in 1156 AD, making it one of the oldest buildings in the area. The fort is an excellent example of Islamic and Rajput architectural styles. This hotel is often referred to as Thikana Nachana, so keep that in mind when chatting with locals. There is a restaurant on the rooftop which serves delicious local food. The view is outstanding. This keeps the rooms cool during the summer and warm during the winter. The rooms are small but are well decorated. The restaurants are decent and the swimming pool is a good place to relax and pass the time. The place is decorated with a modicum of local furnishings and fabrics, and the main halls of this place are also quite large. However, the rooms are fairly small, although some had views of the city as well as the hotel's swimming pool. There are nice frescoes on walls and ceilings in some rooms. Some of the suites have enormous bathrooms. The in house restaurant usually serves breakfast. However, dinner in the evenings is a different story. The remarkable feature of the property would be the center garden and the restaurant inside it which serves a variety of Rajasthani, Indian, Chinese, and western dishes. The rooms are fairly small, compared to the other Taj Group hotels. They are arranged in a square with a courtyard in the middle. This town is popular in the winter and particularly for the Desert Festival which takes place every February, and rooms are not easy to find during the time. One thing about this hotel is there is no shade from the scorching sun, so in the summer it gets quite hot.
