| Amangalla Hotel - http://www.chiangdao.com/hotels4/asiahotels/srilankahotels/gallehotels/amangallahotel.htm Aman Resorts bought and renovated this 400 year old property in 2005 and since then it has been one of the top rated resorts in Sri Lanka. Located within Galle Fort this hotel is a collection of buildings. Amangalla comes from Sanskrit for peace “Aman” and galla which is the Sinhalese name for the town. Originally the buildings were used as headquarters for the Dutch Commander and his officers, and years later it was used by British soldiers but in 1865 it became a hotel. Impressively large four-poster beds and planter's chairs are dwarfed by the towering ceilings. The bedrooms, salons, and bathrooms are all large and immaculate. The spa has been recognized internationally with several awards. - [Amangalla Hotel] |
| Lady Hill Hotel - http://www.chiangdao.com/hotels4/asiahotels/srilankahotels/gallehotels/ladyhillhotel.htm The view from the rooftop bar makes for an unforgettable stay at this charming hotel which is perched on a hill. As it is the highest property in town, enjoying this view requires a climb up a steep hill, although local taxis are available for the trip.
